Judges interpret the constitution, thats what their job is to do.
Maybe people should read the constitution? Now, I'm not saying that the law in Wisconsin is against Wisconsins constitution, it may be, it may not. I'm no expert on Wisconsin law. But I do know that the judiciary branch is supposed to do.
Frankly its getting quite tiresome of hearing people complaining about "legislation from the bench". The court is doing its job, as its supposed to do.
If courts didn't do their job then evolution wouldn't be taught in schools, we wouldn't have equal protection under the law, and you could be locked up for voicing the opinion that you disagree with the government.
And to the person who said "healthcare law", remember, thats a federal law. Until the Supreme court gets its say, that law is still up in the air as well. Even in Wisconsin, I assume that if this judge rules in favor of the union, that it will have to end up in the states Supreme court for final judgement.
The Governor is holding the process of law in contempt. More on my blog at: http://roominhouseblues.blogspot.com/2011/03/twenty-days-does-not-begin-to-express.html
