Let's see here. Obama decides to engage in military conflict in Libya without congressional approval under the guise of "humanitarian crisis", which is complete bullhockey. You can't even say it's about oil because the Chinese get the Libyan oil, not us. Then we support the rebels, of which there are reports that many of them are actually al Qaeda militants. So now we are borrowing money from China to fund this military conflict to help al Qaeda overthrow Qadaffi, and China gets to loan us the money to do it and has someone other than them secure their oil interests. Swell idea there Obammy!
"Self Defence
President Reagan made a TV address to the American people two hours after the attack.
In it he said : "When our citizens are attacked or abused anywhere in the world on the direct orders of hostile regimes, we will respond so long as I'm in this office." He argued that America was exercising its right to self defence as defined by Article 51 of the UN charter."
Who from this regime will be going to prison for disclosing to the press that the CIA was conduting operations in Libya????? The liberals went after the Bush Administration for allegedly outing a secretary who hadn't been "undercover" for over 5 years.
"""Now let me be clear — I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied UN resolutions, thwarted UN inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity.
He’s a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.
But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.""""
obama in 2011
screw the constitution, its just a piece of paper, screw congress they work for me.. I want gadaffi
And if McCain were in office, every single conservative on this board would be touting how he did the right thing. Actually, you would be complaining that he didn't act sooner.
Whether you are for the military action or not, it's undeniable that conservatives are looking completely hypocritical with their reaction thus far.
And how hypocritical do you of the left appear to be since you were so much against anything Bush did and for the same kind of activity from Obama?
obama's msistake is not going into libya, but not getting PERMISSION from congress...even bush got permisssion from congress before he did afgan/iraq
BUT Bush didn't have the same group of left leaning czars hiding out in the White House and calling the shots. We all need to take a closer look at that group down there in that basement.
