House Republicans are planning to cut as much as $1 trillion over 10 years from Medicaid, the government health insurance program for the poor and disabled, when they unveil their fiscal 2012 budget early next month, according to several GOP sources.
Though Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has yet to lock in his final numbers, he made clear to POLITICO in February that he intends to target Medicaid and Medicare for savings. While Medicaid is easiest to win consensus on, Medicare is the biggest debt driver.

Sounds good to me. Let FAMILIES put their relatives on THEIR policy. The programs should be shifted to the STATES. Let the state take care of it's citizens.

Medicaid is voluntary to states, they can cancel participation whenever they want to show their residents what value their leaders hold in them.

It will be interesting to see how this is received by the public and how it will affect the Republican Parties prospects in the 2012 election.

The new healthcare mandtes that million will be force with no choise onto medicaid that are not cover now. The feds will give additional support until 2017 when the staes become resonsible for the increased medicaid cost . That is what Nelson(D) of nebraska got a exemption for his vote saying it would bankrupt his state. That is now the a large part of the bill is paid for and will require huge state tax increases.

Tex, Cornhusker kickback is not part of the final Law. Also states are not required to participate in Medicaid, but if they choose to do so, they must follow the rules. Facts are your friend, no need to fear them.
