Reagan WAS faster, but back then we didn't have the backlog of debt that we do today - AND we were the absolute center of world's economy (and producer of pretty EVERYTHING to pretty much EVERYBODY) - which is NOT the case today. BOTH of these things change the recovery picture quite a bit - not enough to PREVENT a recovery, but certainly enough to drag it out.

Thank you, Republicans, for extending the tax cuts. That's what's starting the jobs moving again.

Next stop - hyperinflation. Let's see how the Left spins this? Obama will own it, since it's pretty much a given because of out of control gas prices.

Ah, you DO know don't you that gas prices are LOWER now than they were at their 2008 peak don't you?

There will be BO hyperinflation. That's just silly talk meant to put fear in the foolish and pump up gold prices so those gold vendors can take your shirt.

Unemployment is going down because people are dropping off the rolls.
There are no more extensions.

People need to learn to read beyond the headlines.

Actually thanks to SPECULATORS - same as in 2008 under Bush (when gas prices were EVEN HIGHER).

Not when the U-6 number goes down as well (as it DID).
The U-6 number INCLUDES people who have fallen off the rolls.

Been said a "million" times but somehow you just don't want to "hear it".

Of course they are publishing bull crap. Many people still can't find jobs that pay a LIVING WAGE. Many folks on this board need to visit the Unemployment and Work and Employment forums to see what I am talking about. I don't think we should be celebrating anything until parents are no longer forced to take jobs at McDonalds to pay not even half their bills and go on food stamps to feed their children.

Speculation in its current form is legal thanks to Bush. Before Bush, oil traders had to take physical delivery of the oil contracts they purchased, unlike today when it is pretty much a stock anybody can get rich off of if they know how to play it. If Obama wanted to ensure re-election, he would push to repeal that law and win over the hearts of the working class as gas prices would sink to $2/gallon (maybe even lower), but major special interest money from both the oil companies and from environmentalists, both who want higher gas prices, prevent that from happening.

Ken
U-6 includes people up to 52 weeks.

Those 99'ers are not part of U-6..did you know that ?
Someone can be unemployed for 60 weeks and on extended UE and they are NOT part of U-6 as U-6 only counts up to 52 weeks.
