Baloney, 1 bright future, this means 50,000 fewer competing at similar low wage jobs, which puts upward wage pressure on that end of the labor pool. THose competing for such jobs are not offering any advanced skills or education on their own which will merit such an increase. Its the segment of the economy that depends the most on demand increasing.

50,000 jobs does just that!

The McD's and few other chain fast food restaurants in our little town don't do much seasonal hiring, because they get too much competition from the private/family owned drive-ins that open this time of year. More people seem to flock to them (rightly so, because their burgers, shakes, and mile high soft ice cream cones are EXCELLENT).

Stupid idiotic Americans on both sides of the political aisle. McDonald's doesn't give two brown turds about America or Americans. They are a global company. They'd just as quick see your kids turned into driveling, mindless, idiots hopped up on trans fat, processed nuggest, and high fructose corn syrup. Why any American eats that crap is beyond me.......oh wait..........60% of the population are fat ass diabetics......... Good grief this country is circling the drain...........and fast!
I have noticed that your posts tend toward bodily function metaphors. What is behind the scatology?

The fact is that a lot of idle workers ARE willing at some point to take jobs "beneath them" -- however, companies realize overqualified workers will "jump ship" as soon as the economy improves and don't want to hire them.
Its GOVERNMENT pushing good paying jobs outside of the country leaving McDonald jobs for people left. If McDonald jobs are all thats available then yes, people should take jobs "beneath them".. Its your JOB as a family producer to produce for your family. If you cant produce, then you need to "settle" for whats there.. Its not my job to provide for your family because you are unwilling to when jobs are available

True, but thats only because companies would rather hire older unskilled workers than younger even less unskilled workers.. When government pushes all of the good jobs overseas, this puts the choice on who to hire on the employer. They will pick the best unqualified worker available from the working poll.. Remove people available for work by giving them better jobs, and the employers will pick those on the lower end out of need.

Did you miss the part these were regular summer jobs?

No increase in hiring, just what happens every year.

So, lets see how many people collecting "Funemployment" put in for these jobs. I will bet few to none. Its beneath them. Why get a job, when they can sit around all day and do nothing?

Obummer and the left wing liberals will just keep raising our taxes, to give them money, so they can stay home. Some have made due, for the past 2-3 years, why get a job now?
I know a guy that chose to sit around and smoke pot instead of working at Walmart when he was offered a job. He collected $315/week on unemployment--more than he'd get working.

That should speak volumes.

I know a guy that lost his job. He then started working at Wal-Mart.

That should speak volumes.
