This isn't a "liberal" thing. It's a DC resident thing. Congress is requiring the District of Columbia to shut-down local government services with the feds, even though they have a budget that is funded by local dollars that have nothing to do with the federal budget. I don't agree with the action, but I'm sure you can appreciate people's frustration when big government forces its will on local / state government and makes people suffer because of it.

Seems pretty rooted in conservative values to me.
