Or neither?

Can you be a patriot and not fall under either category?

A patriot is someone who loves his country more than him or herself. In Congress, there are two who fall under that category: Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, there are no others.

A Patriot is loyal to his cause or Country NOT a label such as R/Cons. or D/Lib, as to Dennis Kucinich check out his membership in the Democratic Progressive Caucus which is a arm of the Socialist Party USA. Currently the R and D team are both to blame for the disaster we have in America!

I think all sides have the common goal of making america as great as it can be, just many have a different view of how we are suppose to approach it. Many unfortunately believe the lies of the anti-patriots who hide behind the cloak of the american flag that want nothing but to crush liberty and freedom in the name of their own selfishness.

Too me, I think a patriot is a person who is honest about the actual state of the country. Not Fox News Sean Hannity types who won't ever say a bad word about the country. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said, "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism," to which I fully agree. A true patriot strives to make America better, and is not afraid to call his/her country out on it's B.S.

Patriotism almost never has anything to do with your opinions about the particular political issues of the day. Patriotism is about how you live your life. Do you actually love this country? Do you want to make it better? Are you willing to give back to your community?

If the answer to those three questions are all yes, then I consider you a patriot, regardless of how you feel about health care reform, or current deficits, or whatever else. The Founding Fathers had profound disagreements about the political issues of their day, but nobody today would question their patriotism. I often wish we could have that same outlook today of respectful disagreement and honest debate.

Right now I would have to say that the conservatives are more so than Majority of liberals as they seem to be hell bent on destroying our country at the moment!

you can certainly be either, it is why you have your feelings that make you a patriot.
