I find this very troubling. Whenever we censor someone's speech, we become a more fascist society.

The NBA is private. He violated their code of conduct. They can do whatever they please. It's not the government. Case closed.

Kobe Bryant is an employee. The company has the right to demand certain behavior from it employees.

Hopefully someone sat down with him and explained it to him.

They should fine the team mates rather than the offender. Peer pressure will cure the problem. Donate proceeds to various local charities.

Yes, the NBA is private, but this move sends a huge message to people that says, "You better watch what you say", and I don't like that. It reminds me of Ari Flescher and the Bushies after 9/11.

exactly, well said.

and dont forget that with rights come responsibilities. yes kobe has the right to use whatever language he wants, but he also has to pay the consequences as well.

He is under contract which has rules about his behaiviour, I say it was right to fine him.

Nobody can say what he wants. You can not threaten people, there's slander and libel etc. You DO better watch what you say.
