Not unexpected as the Budget bill passes both the House and the Senate. Interesting to note the bill had far more support in the Senate than in the House, especially on the Dems side.
Also as expected the bills to defund Planned Parenthood and last year's healthcare bill passed the House on a mostly party line basis. Both bills failed in the Senate, the defunding of the health care bill was 47-53, strictly party-line. Cutting off the planned parenthood funding was 42-58, with all Democrats voting against and 5 Republicans joining them (Brown, Collins, Kirk, Murkowski, Snowe)
Isn't it wonderful how the conservatives insist that private donations enough to help the poor, without public welfare being needed. And then when a private assistance organization comes along and does an exemplary job to help the poor, like Acorn and Planned Parenthood, the conservatives crush them.
It is a shame that this sham of a budget passed; especially after finding out today that it actually raises the debt by $3 billion. Of course, that explains why it was popular with Progressives on both sides of the aisle.

Private organizations? I was under the impression they were funded by the taxpayer. If they are indeed private as you say, why is this an issue, cut any use of taxpayer funds. These organizations are "private" is the same was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are private.
Good on both cases. Now maybe repubs will start concentrating on helping the jobless but I doubt it.
The Republicans don't care about the jobless.
They care about pandering to social conservatives and cutting taxes AGAIN for the richest Americans while taking steps to eliminate Medicare.
