If anything I blame the parents for bringing a 1 year old out to dinner and not checking the drink first......shouldn't they be controlling what the child drinks and not ordering it from a menu or do we now have menus for 1 year old kids at restaurants?

Sounds to me like the parents had a few too many "drinks" themselves.
Exactly . At that age, we would have brought our child's beverage (and probably food) from home. More often, if we planned a meal out at a restaurant (with drinks), we left her with a sitter. There was no harm done, though, so what IS the point in suing?

P.S. - I am from a generation where grandmas put whiskey or port wine on gums for teething!!!

Maybe I'm too modern, but I don't see anything wrong with taking a baby to a restaurant.

There's another possibility all of you are overlooking. Perhaps the wait staff hates noisy children and the mess they make and so one of them slipped some alcohol in the kid's drink cup to quiet or calm down the kid and put too much booze in the cup. If you doubt this could have happen then you probably never worked in a restaurant.

Look, if I can't smoke in a restaurant because it offends liberals.

Why should I have to sit in a restaurant full of crying babies? It is just as annoying to me to have a bunch of crying screaming kids bellowing with Mom & Dad telling them to shut up, while I'm trying to eat my dinner.

Take 'em to Chucky Cheese.

Smokers = conservative? Non smokers = liberal.

Where do you pull this crap out of?

In my state it was the Liberals that forced smokers outside. Same as in any other state.

Liberals supposedly live to be free, and tout freedom for everyone .... but they keep restricting our lives.

If you had to adhere to a budget, and could only eat out a couple of times a month, and planned a special romantic night out (anniversary, maybe), would YOU want to sit at a table next to a screaming infant/toddler? We enjoyed our evenings out, but were also mindful of being considerate to other diners.

Do you take YOUR baby out to eat often? When he/she cries, do the other diners get angry at you?

On this we agree. Shocking isn't it? My parents took us to fine restaurants on Sunday after church. This was an opportunity for my sister and I to try new foods. We were also taught how to behave in such settings. The problem today isn't the children, it's the lack of parenting skills to instill discipline in their children and in the non-parents who have no patience for kids being kids. Bringing children only to restaurants like Chucky Cheeses and McDonalds is part of the reasons for the childhood obesity and poor behavior in social settings. Your attitude towards children is just as distasteful.
