The top 1% was given OUR MONEY through a redistribution of wealth with the promise that they would create jobs. Guess what...they haven't! Probably because they are not major employers....they are hedge fund directors.

I came away with a feeling you felt it was good for the economy to have a group of very wealthy individuals who would "hire people". (Also, that you somehow feel that it's a liberal position to wish that nobody becomes successful, which is of course not true.)

You introduced the rich as a specifically beneficial group in your OP, now you're asking me to define them?

No single person invented the computer. There's literally hundreds of inventions involved.
You wrote "very rich". Not me.

Nowadays the top bracket takes in many of the people who do the most good in your town and my town.
Liberals could read what you wrote 1,000 times and still not get it.

Could someone explain why during these discussions liberals forget about the middle-class folks who start businesses and work 80 hours a week to build something that provides goods and services for Americans?

It seems like to a liberal, all rich folks are Thurston Howell III and not people like this:

7 Start-up Success Stories | Inc.com

Millions of innovative, hard-working folk are thrown under the bus because America has a few hundred people who have a super high net worth?

BOTH PARTIES AGREE THAT SMALL BUSINESSES DO THE MOST HIRING IN AMERICA!

Yet, the progressives want to see small business people buried in taxes and regulations until every inner-city "at-risk" youth is getting straight A's and every poor person gets a nice, fat weekly government check.

Nobody has explained during this discussion why feeding government money and jobs to the least productive people strengthens America in a world where China and its tens of millions of young, eager to succeed engineers and scientists, are rising above us.

Liberals...while you obsess on the Koch Brothers MILLIONS OF SMALL BUSINESS PEOPLE ARE STRUGGLING UNDER EXCESS TAXES AND EXCESS REGULATIONS. WAKE UP!!

Interesting slide show. But the business description said nothing about net worth or their corporations taxable income. It only mentioned revenues, which have little to do with profitability.

Look at the "biggest expenses"...none of the businesses said taxes. I don't even think taxes were listed under the "red tape" section. The biggest expenses were:
  • Travel
  • Advertising
  • Trade Shows
  • Construction
  • Free Samples
  • Products
I've owned a retail operation for years, so I know what I'm talking about.

As a business owner, did you put extra money in your tax payment to help the poor and "at-risk", urban youth?

Did you know that Reagan was a socialist? Tax rates are now lower, especially for the higher income individuals, than under Reagan's presidency.

Why would I do that?

Dear rich person.

If you are taxed at 90% or 10% you will hire only if there is a demand for your product or service.

You yourself have have often claimed "it is not my job to hire, it is my job to run a business". Especially after we allowed you to keep your Bush tax cuts and we didn't see the increase in hiring you and your Republican cronies led us to believe.

If you are to hire it is because you are busy with demand, from a large number of consumers. The CEO of GM won't hire more workers if only 5 people in the country can afford to buy a new car this year. However maybe he will if 50,000 can. The same can be said of any business. The more consumers, the more you hire.

Even if you are taxed at a high rate. You will still need to hire. Otherwise, if your service is slow, or poor in quality, you will lose business.

Learn to be happy making a bit less. Many of us are. We just don't want to be getting by on paycheck to paycheck hoping we won't get sick or you'll increase the rent, or our car might break down or gas might increase (again)

If you want a hug, a gesture of kindness, then maybe you should think about the golden rule. You have all the gold, its amazing you aren't more familiar with it.

Reagan wouldn't be a Republican today. He was an adult and willing to compromise.
