That doesn't stop them from asking for your insurance information.

I would pursue with the State Attorney. I believe a law was passed, under Reagan stating Emergency service has to be provided.

No and it should not stop them.

That is way different from asking for money.

Once they see you have a co-pay, they ask for that. On the spot. Have you never gone to an ER? This is all before you are ever triaged. Don't believe everything you see on medical shows on TV or hear from Rush, Glenn et al.

So, if you said you don't have the money...they would refuse treatment???

I guess in your haste to compose a personal attack, you did not read my follow-up. They then ask for the money ON THE SPOT! I assumed that people would understand that when I said "check your insurance" that that would include collecting the co-pay. I work in a doctor's office. That's how we do things. I assumed too much understanding on the part of some posters.

I don't know. It never happened to me like that and I"ve never worked in an ER.

I am glad I don't have to go to your hospital.

I have taken my kids and myself many time to the emergency room and have never been asked for the co-pay.

It's not "my" hospital. I don't work there.
