Different war, no?
Let's not forget the over 100k Iraqi's lost their lives to our war.
Lots of Afghani's, too.
For what? Bush being mad at Hussein for "trying to kill my daddy?"

Guess what, it's an all-volunteer force. The military is about war, they made the CHOICE to go to war.
Sorry for your loss, but they chose to join the military.

[quote=steven_h;19866902]I thought this was a thread on Obama's policy being a bust, not about lives lost in- what you'd deem, Bushs' war... or was that instigated by the 3000 lives lost in NY? Now that, was pretty damn cavalier. Obama... he just got a call and had to say YES! "Should we proceed to kick the snot out of Obama sir?"... YES! Shwew that was tough.

- I know my stimulous just put us in more debt with negative returns - but I got Bin Laden
- I know I'm stealing $500B from Medicare to fund my social healthcare while giving waivers to my friends - but I got Bin Laden
- I know unemployment is 9.2% after trillions spent on shovel "not so ready as we thought" jobs - but I got Bin Laden
- I know cash for clunkers was a disaster - but I got Bin Laden
- I know I said I'd put an end to lobbyists in the White House, just to hire 35% more than any other President in history - but I got Bin Laden
- I know we've failed to prosecute any black on white racism cases - but I got Bin Laden
- I know I have the most inept Vice President to ever grace the office - but I got Bin Laden and besides all the above is Bushs' fault anyway.
- I know I made a fool of myself in England when I broke protocol then got schooled on international policy by the IPM on NATIONAL TELEVISION - but I got Bin Laden
- I know I said mine would be the most transparent Presidency in history and then locked out and punished all who opposed me - but I got Bin Laden
- I know I promised to get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan and instead started bombing Pakistan, Libya and Yemen - but I got Bin Laden
- I know I said I'd close GITMO - but I got Bin Laden and besides this was all Bushs' fault... well not Pakistan, Libya and Yemen- but it sort of was.
- I know I said I'd be the President of Change ... now that one I did (although I made you believe I meant for the better, GOTCHA!)
- and if all of this isn't enough, may I remind you that I got Bin Laden! And being the humble man that I am I will give a small token of credit to Bush on this one.

How lightly can you judge this President? You are so critical of anyone with an R in front of their name you don't care if they're right. Carter was an absolute failure, yet Obama makes Carter look like a frikkin rockstar. Just how much of a failure will Obama have to be before you'll agree that he's failing?

There are some legitimate charges against Obama in there, but many that aren't true at all. The quoted post is profoundly inaccurate. Obama did end combat operations in Iraq (he promised to be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in) and he promised to increase the war in Afghanistan (which he also did).

The poster does not understand the core purpose of stimulus, which was to provide temporary jobs to carry people through a tough period until the markets could recover. I know many people on stimulus jobs who would be unemployed right now. The bigger problem is that the private sector hasn't picked up as quickly as hoped because so many people remain in debt (their own volition, not government created).

Cash for Clunkers was actually very successful, providing a shot of car sales during a period when the auto industry was struggling profoundly. Now, domestic companies are reporting significant profits. So, all around the work with the auto industry was very successful.

I'm not even sure where the VP attack comes from. Biden's got a mouth, but overall he's been pretty solid on foreign policy experience.

I won't go through them all, but the fact that the poster is complaining about breaking archaic British royalty protocol accidentally (and very minorly) reveals all we need to know. The person is simply against our president and looking for any excuse to be negative about him.

Still waiting to hear some real accomplishments. All i'm reading is defensive posts instead of offensive posts. Come on Libs...surely your Leader has provided some forum fodder for you to brag about.....right?

Actually, what's happened is Barack Obama has not lived up to his own hype. Even Liberals are having trouble coming to terms with this failed experiment. By not being able to ramble off a list of accomplishments, they are effectively saying that this President has let them down.

This thread is your opportunity to tout the President.....and you have failed miserably. Apparently you have no ammunition. We tried to tell you how it was going to be way back in 2007-2008, but you wouldn't listen. Sorry for your luck.

Have you read this thread? People have posted lists upon lists and given many directly. I think you're seeing what you want to see.

The left keeps on saying, "Bush's war", totally ignoring that the dems voted in favor and continually voted for funds for the wars.

They just can't accept the truth.

What are the results? Saying and doing are 2 different things.
2. Signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, restoring basic protections against pay discrimination for women and other workers:

Waste of time. "restoring"? Show when it was cancelled. We already have multiple laws that cover the same thing.

White House Staff: " Mr. President, we've located Osama Bin laden and are preparing a strike team to go in and kill him."
President Obama: " Hmmm, I'd better think about this, don't want to anger the moslem community. Let me discuss this with TOTUS and see what he says I should do."
White House Staff: " Sir, we've already committed and the mission is underway. The TOTUS has authorized the mission and the Autopen has signed the orders."
President Obama: " What? Blackberry is supposed to notify me of any major developments and they're supposed to confer with me before they, errr we, uhhh me make , I mean I ...make any major decisions."
White House Staff: " We're sorry Mr. President, it seemed like a no brainer and we just assumed you sign off on it immediately."
Obama:" Well, okay. Just next time let me in on things. I'm sick of being Fredo around here. I'm smart. I guess I'll go golfing."
White House Staff. " Actually sir, your clubs already left with Vice President Joe Biden for a 2 o clock tee time."

Then you don't know political history. Barry Goldwater was considered fringe in 1964 by Republicans. Reagan was considered to the left of him but still very conservative. Rockefeller, Nixon and Eisenhower were Republican mainstream.

Nixon gave us environmental protection and proposed a health care reform similar to Obama's and mainstream Republicans didn't crawl out of the woodwork screaming "Socialism."

Today, Eisenhower would be considered a left-winger by today's Republicans. This is an example of what Ike believed:

Quote:
1953 speech:

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms in not spending money alone.

It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.

It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.

It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals.

It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.

We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat.

We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.

This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking.

This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.

Well.. Let's give Nobama some credit, he created a much bigger, less effective, and more costly government, he also gave many Americans, who don't deserve it, a sense of entitlement and made them more Dependent on government.

And oh, to all Americans, whether you like Obama or not, Happy Independence Day.

On a side note, I did not vote for Obama on 2008, nor will I ever vote for a socialist like him.
