American society today faces many of the same issues we faced 100 years ago such as the decline in the middle class, conservation of resources, keeping big business in check, education reform, immigration, world conflict, etc. Teddy Roosevelt, a charismatic leader, set the ground work that helped usher in one of the greatest periods of prosperity in American history. Although he had his faults, he was reflective and learned valuable lessons from his mistakes and is viewed by many as one of the greatest presidents in American history.

Where is today's Teddy Roosevelt? In my opinion neither party has anyone who will step out of polar party ideologies for the benefit of the country as a whole.

TR was known in his day for compromising in the name of making progress.

"Half a loaf is better than none" was his motto.

Contemporary Teddy

Simply put, Teddy Roosevelt couldn't win a Republican Primary for the office of Pothole Filler today if he ran based on his record. And neither could Ike or Reagan if they had to use their previous records as president as a resume.
