Hm, Vermont's proposal passes my Constitutional smell test. I approve of it.
Yeah, let's let Vermont--and Vermont only--start caring for their citizens and start SAVING taxpayer money.
Heck, even if it did cost money, you cannot put a price tag on the lives of your fellow citizens, and any attempt to do so is shameful.
Did you read the article in the OP's post ?
Here's the important piece....
"..failing to answer critical questions such as what the health benefit package would be, how much it would cost or how to pay for it."
The bill they passed is just to explore the possibility of a single payer plan..there are ZERO details.
The Massachusetts Medical Society found that 56% of physicians are not taking on new patients. Wait times for appointments are climbing. Just two years after reform took root, one clinic in Western Massachusetts had amassed a waiting list of 1,600 patients.
RomneyCare expanded coverage simply by putting more people on the dole. Since 2006, 440,000 people have been added to state-funded insurance rolls. Medicaid enrollment alone is up nearly 25%, and Massachusetts is struggling to cover the cost.
Liberals flock to the "cities" in VT, like Burlington, to escape reality.
And those "intellectual liberals" whom the "worker bees in VT state gov't" pay attention to, absolutely can't stand the long time living/have roots in VT,non-lib folks in the sticks of VT. They don't want to help them, they blame them for "mud season" and how gloomy VT is more days out a year than it isn't.
VT is good for skiing. That's about it and that's what the state should stick with promoting.
Not some stupid liberal agenda coming out of a state where lost libs flock to and are trying to take over.
As a conservative, if this is what the voters of Vermont want, more power to them.
But, I couldn't help notice the author being the typical liberal that he is couldn't write an article without insulting repubs. They just can't help themselves.
Doesn't Vermont have to get a waiver from the federal government to implement this? I heard this is a main reason why there is a bill to move up the 2017 start date for waivers to 2014 at the federal level.
I like the spin in the title. Reminds me when Bush "moved forward" on Iraq, or how Obama "moved forward" on Afghanistan.
