The way I read the newest governor's comments was not that he could not locate a birth certificate, but that he could not find a way to legally make that birth certificate public. Even a governor does not have the authority to take a confidential record and remove that confidentiality. The laws regarding vital records and other confidential information the government maintains are designed to be very difficult to override anyone's right to privacy. And that's a good thing.

I'd be astonished if a POTUS wasn't able to produce documentation of his American birth that would pass as "authentic." After all, he presides over an organization that spent over $3 and a half TRILLION dollars in 2010. With that kind of money and power, you can do anything, and creating a government document wouldn't even be a tiny challenge.

Donald Trump LIED and stated that his "people on the ground" in Hawaii had found that there was no BC, etc, etc.

totally agree it just means he'll likely be forced to cave to similarly crazy requests in the future. Although with as crazy as things got... he sort of didn't have a choice anymore.

I find it funny how people are celebrating Donald Trump as though he did a great thing. He harnessed someone and violated his privacy until he was forced to contact the government of his home state to release a gov't doc to the public that the public had zero right to see. whether you like obama or not can you not see his rights were violated? He is our president, he is held to a higher level of acountability and transparency.... but he satisfied those requirements. That was enough for every president before him, why was it not enough for him?

Then.....how did he waive that law? For months now we heard from the left/media the governor COULD NOT, by law, release the LF.

But we see how easy it was. Obama could have done it years ago, but he took a gamble that letting the issue boil under the surface would benefit him politically. Exactly the opposite happened.

Excuse me, when exactly did you ask me that question? I think you have me mixed up with another poster. But I'll answer anyway..... It's a question that assumes a premise that isn't true and is therefore the question is unanswerable---like asking a guy when they quit beating his wife.

By the way, Trump promised to release his tax records if Obama released his long form. Do you think he'll keep his word?

The "birthers" are now morphing into the "deniers" and the "forgers"....how predictable

Nothing is going to satisfy Birthers because the real motivations for their actions is they have a personal bias against President Obama. The whole Birther issue give them a pseudo legitimate way to voice their hatred.

Hatred has nothing to do with rationale thought.
