I believe the whole Columbine High School shooting had something to do with it.
That was 10 years ago. It is little more than a footnote in history now.

I've bought my fair share of ammo from Wal-mart. Not sure why they got out of the gun business to begin with. Something tells me it had less to do with money and more to do with image and liability.
Bloomberg's anti-gun group Mayor's Against Illegal Guns put heavy pressure on Wal-Mart in the major metro areas. Wal-Mart conceded to that political pressure and saved face and likely court costs by being their poster child and starting a "responsibility program" which eliminated the sales of firearms and ammunition in major city-center stores.
Needless to say, Bloomberg's group is not very pleased about Wal-Mart's reversal of policy.
Well, judging by a good chunk of the clientele, Funny Pictures at WalMart, I would think guns would be a big seller. Probably the same reason they sell a lot of NASCAR memorabilia, cigarettes, and 30 packs of Busch. (except here in PA, no beer in Wal-Mart here...if Busch really qualifies as beer, that is...).

I just had an oil change there for 60 bucks! That's 4.00 over what the oil and filter costs. I got my card in the mail from the local brand store (Ford) and they wanted 100 as their special price.
That was easy.
