I remember Trump's first musings about the birth certificate issue. Like many Americans, he couldn't understand why Obama wouldn't release his original birth certificate and be done with the issue, and that was it. He wasn't hysterical about the issue, just curious.
The left-wing blogs and the media quickly denounced him as a birther, IMO hoping to get him to apologize for daring to bring it up, but Trump has always been a fighter and a gambler so he doubled down and went directly at the media and the president.
The result was he forced Obama's hand, and as I stated in another post, has now taken the entire birther issue off the table. No GOP candidate will have to take a stand, no one will be ambushed with an October surprise by the WH.
Then there is the race issue. The left doesn't like it when their president is attacked so directly, so they immediately denounced Trump as racist. The idea is laughable...Trump didn't get to be an enormously successful businessman and potent media figure by being a racist, especially in NYC.
The racist tag once had powerful connotations, and in the past the GOP would tie itself into knots as it desperately shied away from the label. But the public is getting wise to this scam now. Anyone who opposes Obama will be labeled a racist, as Tavis Smiley is clearly signaling in this video, and all the racist calls will be coming from the left. I don't consider Trump a serious candidate, and IMO once the other candidates get going he'll eventually step aside. But he's taken some early arrows, destroyed the birther issue, and exposed the racist label as being almost insignificant weapon.

I also think his musings on people from kindergarten not remembering Obama has great political worth. It's pretty obvious, this man is Presidential material.
I question the use of the term "many". I would hate to think "many" Americans were total looney tunes.

Trump is a business man, meaning unlike most politicians he knows how to hire workers, pay wages and to build and run something.
He pointed out that since the Democrats and Hillary started the birth certificate thing in 2007 Obama had not responded. He even caused some military personnel to go to jail over this instead of paying the $30 dollars.
Keep in mind it was the Obama family telling people they were there in Africa for Obama's birth and even helped, so this wasn't just out of thin air that all this arose.
Is Trump serious? Don't know, but he asks great questions and gets the people focused on what an empty suit Obama is.

The problem though, is Trump actually muddied the water because the birther movement was never about Obamas birth certificate, it was the question, does having 1 parent born in the USA qualified one to be a "natural born" or not.

So....the real birth certificate vs. the later real birth certificate caused Obama to make them go to jail?
That's interesting.
What were the names of the military personnel he put in jail over this?
I recall one colonel who was a birther, but Obama didn't put him in jail. The guy refused to follow a lawful order. Drawing a blank on any others that Obama put in jail.
