And Obama.

Obama signed the order to carry out this mission, and he's been as vigilant as anyone else on this.

So if you want to give Bush credit, you have to give Obama credit as well.

He didn't do anything, except give the order.

To look into Pakistan, not Iran or Iraq.

I love that Osama was killed with troops on the ground instead of just some air strike or something. I think it'd be even better if they got close enough to do it that he was able to see exactly who was taking him out.

However, those saying they don't see any reason to still be in Afghanistan are naive on how war works. Osama was a symbol and yes some closure for those killed in 9/11 and the wars. But his second in command will step up as the leader and those in Al-Qaeda and the Taliban will have to be dealt with even more now because they're unlikely to just let this go. We still have threats we are fighting over there and we just made them angrier.

Yes... but with much less success.

He already has gotten credit for this, and deservedly so... just as he would have taken the fall had it gone bad (Think Carter & Desert One). He made the call. He gets the win.

Hate to be the one to break it to you, Magoomafoo, but Obama's ALREADY getting credit for it. Even your beloved Fox News has had to admit that Obama was at the controls and ordered the operation as it went down. He purposely didn't order a bomb or missile strike because they wanted to recover as much intel (documents, computers, etc.) as they could. He's being credited for pulling off a brilliant move, while simultaneously having to deal with birther blather.

Notice, too, that all of the White House communications, from Obama to Clinton to Petraeus have stressed that Bin Ladin killed many many Muslims and that he did not, in any way, represent Islam. Whether Al Jazeera picks up these messages and broadcasts them to Muslims worldwide is anybody's guess. But it's some smart strategy, intended to minimize retaliation.

I don't think Obama had access to intel until he took the office in 2009. He had the right idea to begin with.

Which is what President is supposed to do.

AKA:

He did his job, and did it well.
