Sure, using a terrorist attack as an excuse to invade a country unprovoked in order settle a personal score, and leaving the economy in shambles.....a real great American president!
Believe it or not, for 8 years GW's policies broke the backbone of Al Qaeda's operations in not just the middle east, but all over the world.
But if you wanna sit back, be ignorant and criticize him, be my guest
President Bush laid the groundwork to find Osama, but the constitutional term limits prevented him from completing his goal.
President Obama picked up where Bush left off, and was able to complete the task. Who is to say that President Bush wouldn't have been the sitting President that was able to kill OBL IF he had stayed in the White House for two more years?
It could be argued that President Bush put so much pressure on finding OBL that he was forced to stay on the run. Never staying in one spot long enough to be targeted. Therefore, when Bush left the White House, OBL slowly began to relax his guard. Only then was President Obama able to gather enough credible information to put together a small task force and take him out.
Or, it could be argued that President Obama actually put in a MUCH greater effort on finding OBL, and was able to complete in two years what President Bush wasn't able to do in two terms. However, that would still include building on the foundation from the Bush era.
Or, it could be argued that OBL has been dead all these many years. After all why was there such a quick burial? Where's the "proof" that OBL was killed this past weekend? Passing around a handful of pictures certainly isn't proof enough in this day and age of computer manipulation. Maybe the old adage of "Presidents stick together" is actually true. After all it is a very elite club. Look at President Clinton and President Bush (Sr). Brutal enemies in front of the camera (during their political terms). Close friends behind the camera.
Or, it could be argued that every step that America has taken, from the time we rebelled against British rule, up until our present day (which includes every decision made by every President regardless of political party) led us to what occurred over the weekend with the death of OBL. You know... the whole "cause and effect" thing.
Regardless of which argument (and, I have no doubt there are tens, if not hundreds, more) you take it is getting ridiculous to keep chanting over and over "My President can beat up your President".
While the worthless republican wackadoos are putting 100% of their efforts into figuring out how to continue to give the rich & mega-corporations more breaks than they could ever ask for, meanwhile wanting to slash and burn every and any public program and any programs designed to help those who need help the most...AND desperately trying to throw out any and every doubt they can that Obama isn't an American, Obama didn't have good grades in kindegarten...While these useless, self-serving, for the rich & mega-corporation screw everyone else republicans spend their days and nights trying to figure more ways to divide our country, Obama was luckily still taking care of the important stuff!
Let the Repug's hang themselves...Good riddance to them! Bush had a blank check to do this for almost 7yrs and his only accomplishment was to spend us into oblivion and give the super rich tax cuts!
In other words, in your opinion, the OP is giving 0bama credit for these deeds, while he was standing on Bush's shoulders.
I'm not sure what you are trying to refer to and whose side you're on.
But I'm a centrist with no affiliation to any party, with immense respect for GW as well as Obama for diverse reasons
I'll be in ground zero in a couple of hours at lunch to feel the spirit of victory, but I'll never forget watching GW on tv, standing with a speaker mic in ground zero amidst the rubble and telling people there that "we are coming to get them". It's taken ten years, but he tirelessly and ruthlessly put in place a machinery which would go after Al Qaeda in every corner of the world. Today's outcome is the fruit of his efforts. Muscling a rogue state like Pakistan and placing immense amount of US army machinery in the country is almost an impossible task, but GW got it done.
It takes real cowboy attitude to do that. He didn't give an F about the rest of the world.
It is a victory shared by all of the USA as a whole, with every citizen taking credit for this event to happen.
From the determined volunteer men and women fighting on the lines, to the citizens here at home, with a hatred for Osama.
But it may save his presidency. It's the only positive thing that he has allowed to happen in over two years.
These are President Bush's POLICIES that are still in effect that got Bin Laden. President Bush DOES DESERVE most of the credit. If the liberals and Obama got their way, we would have NOT been in a position to get Bin Laden.
Completely ridiculous!!!
Bush Policies?!? What policies?
If Bush's policies were so good, why was Bush unable to either capture or kill Bin Laden for 7 long years, while Obama kills him in just 2 years!!!
Killing Bin Laden was Obama's work. Plain and simple. Obama deserves 100% of the credit!!! Bush 0%.
Obama made killing Bin Laden his number one priority. And that is why Bin Laden is dead today.
The only thing that Obama did WRONG with this attack was using Navy Seals instead of 100 cruise missiles. Bin Ladin was SURROUNDED by retired military people who AIDED AND GAVE COMFORT to a known terrorist. The entire area should have been vaporized as a warning to countries that harbor terrorists.
WRONG AGAIN!
Thanks to Obama's DECISION to use the Navy Seals ... we HAVE Bin Laden's body as PROOF he is dead!
Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah. Nothing like cheerleading on the Titanic post glacial-contact.
With red and yellow pom-poms I'm sure.
The death of bin laden is symbolic.
Bush's analogy was that we needed to stop swatting at flies. The cesspool that is the Middle East is a stinking pile of crap, and it will keep breeding flies, another bin laden will be along soon. Osama was a big bloated fly, but he iwa still just another fly. Bush took out Saddam and his sons, which was essential to flushing the stink out of Iraq.... taking out Osama bin Laden..... <meh> no change at all.

Yes Really !!!!!!!!!!!
Obama has now done in just over 2 years what Bush couldn't do in just over 7 years..... Kill Bin Laden.
I'm sure Bush wanted to capture or kill Bin Laden but couldn't.
Now we should all move forward and allow Obama to fix the rest of the crap that Bush couldn't.
Anyone who tries to deflect this achievement away from President Obama are just partisan fools.
What stupid posts...
It was a good job by Bush and Obama but most of all the men and women in the military
