Sure the USA got the final say on when and where he died. But, he died a martyr.
Inarguably we are a less free nation than before the first attacks on the WTC prior to 9/11. We have spent $Trillions on the "war on terror", lost precious lives, and precious freedoms in the process.
With Bin Laden's death come threats of attacks to make 9/11 pale in comparison. Iran, the supreme state sponsor of Islamic terrorism, is on the cusp of going nuclear. Gaddafi vows retribution for the death of his family members.
If recent history has taught us anything it is that with higher threats come more restrictions upon our basic freedoms of communication and travel.
As Constitutionally affirmed free people, how much more of our liberties are we willing to sacrfice in the name of fear and security? When does enough become enough?

Did Bin Laden win?
I hate to say it, but I think bin Laden has won. Dead, alive, or otherwise he's got to be happy with his work. He's successfully pulled America into an endless, expensive, bloody "war" on terrorism. He's brought us the "Patriot" Act, the "REAL" national ID, FISA, TSA scandals, etc. I mean this really couldn't have turned out any better for him.
The worst of it all is, the media and the government has wrapped this in a flag and made it unpatriotic to criticize our involvement in a "war" on terror.
No, bin Laden's actions ultimately revolved around waging war on Western forces in order to get them out of the Middle East, yet his actions have had the opposite effect.
Like I said, if Obama was standing in front of the White House handing out Gold Coins there would still be a chorus of complainers on this board. They would sooner America fail than Obama get credit for doing something right. If Osama had lived there would have been terror attacks around the world trying to free him.
