I have stopped watching "News" on TV soon after 9/11. Every channel telling the same garbage, no different opinions, no dissent, nothing.
They all poop in the same horn. 5 companies with similar interests own 99% of the media.
The really sad and disturbing

Spot on. I turned them ALL off when I couldn't figure out their collective fixation with Natalie Halloway (sp?).
Anyone notice how "news" is actually some sort of 'Entertainment Magazine' show now? Why are these giddy Mediots always giggling anway?
Used to be news anchors never showed their personal feelings. They just did their job and gave the facts (wow, I'm dating myself!!)
The local "news" shows are especially pathetic. More time given to promote their weather freaks than their big "stories".
(unfortunately my family tunes in and I have to hear it.)
I was following an Airline Pilots' forum the night of the Buffalo plane crash a couple of years ago and the major Mediot outlets were "reporting" the discussions on there as fact.
The Moderator had to appeal to the members to limit conversation that night; not to type anything they were not 120% sure as etched-in-stone fact because everything they discussed was apparently being scoured & taken literally, and anything "catchy" was actually being "reported!"
The kicker was when one member posted an image of a plane which they stated was a *similar* model and the image, with the Forum's watermark right on it, was appearing on the likes of Cnn & CNBC as the actual plane!
The Airline Forummers couldn't believe it.
Just like yourself emilybh, I don't trust the media. I question just about everything they throw out there.
I don't see how anyone can....
Especially when even arms of the government like the TSA states that no pat downs will be conducted on children younger than 12 or 14 and then they get caught going inside the pants of a 6 year old! They are BIG FAT LIARS and should NOT be trusted without verification from a non governmental non major media source.
Now most of the past lies have been admitted anyway. They know enough of the American public won't buy into the propaganda. Even Madeleine Albright was quoted years ago as saying that Bin Laden's body had been frozen.
Unfortunately, it's not just the major media. Lack of credibility--to say nothing of impartiality and the absence of factual reporting that used to be known as journalistic integrity--is an epidemic.

Well i agree they don't offer much for the higher good., They think talking about bad things sells and thus they provide what people buy... if advertisers didn't think you watched they wouldn't advertise.
Turn them all off and be happier. if there was no coverage many stories would exist. think of how many school shootings sprung from Columbine
It saddens me that I have become highly skeptical of the media and this administration, as well as past ones, alike.
there are checks and balances--and someone is always searching for a scandal---the truth will be told--I know I would think long and hard about what I said to anyone and the choices I made in my personal life if I was a public servant--as we have learned--some seem to be 'lucky'--forgiven for things for which many of us would face lasting repercussions--I don't forgive so easily if the choice was extremely immature--that is just me.
If you work in public education--OMG--the diplomacy skills required would be helpful in global negotiations---if I work for the government and am held to utter Perfection in every aspect of my life--then so should every other government employee--the higher up the food chain the greater the accountability--that is not the way it works, fyi--'Adminstrators'---it is like imperial rule--'CYA'--they train them well to do that. A couple that I have known got promoted--to protect The Board--that doesn't bother me as much as it used to---there are days when I recall the meetings--Thou shalt, Thou shalt not---finished with their job--ACCOUNTABILITY--yes, Boortz--sometimes mistakes are made--he never shares his true stories--as insane as he is---I know there were many. An attorney ---and as vicious as they come. Didn't enjoy all the work--decided it would be more fun and easier to go on the air---how many years--20 +, IIRC---he flies his plane, jokes with the Baby J--Hannity--has Belinda at his beck and call--a benevolent King. Hope he abdicates soon. 'The Empire'---Atlanta and Naples and who knows how far the Empire extends. Flies his plane over my house---sometimes I look up and reflect. Method to his Madness--ok --then I'll just do that, too. 'Feminist' that I am---I have to be a Feminist/Socialist if I work for the government schools. Nothing lower in his Royal opinion.
WSB 750 and a new FM station--Cox Broadcasting--in complete control of the media and life itself in the ATL--or they used to be---one of the worst newspapers you will find. All we deserve----educated by the government. Talk about a regime. That is not the way some of us Roll, I can tell you that.
A monarchy---different flag --but I don't thank Jolly Old England for this generous gift. GA was founded as a debtors colony--that is still the prevailing philosophy. If it ain't broke don't fix it---no problem--there are alternatives.
TMZ has been right more often!! Maybe they should branch out.
