'Winston Churchill, the American government’s most esteemed foreign statesman, stated, "In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.'
if you believe that then what possible benefit, in your opinion, did they get out of releasing it now?
This is why - "A New York Times/CBS poll conducted April 15-20 found the birther issue resonates with Republican voters. Among the public at large, 25 percent thought President Obama was not a ”natural born citizen.” Among Republicans, 45 percent said they believe he was born outside the US. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent."
The birther issue was moving to the front page of newspapers and the cables were doing whole shows about it. Trump was becoming a force, his polls were soaring and the more he pushed the birther issue the more people were cheering. Releasing the birth certificate took his legs out from under him and permanently put to rest the birther mess.
I think you are wrong, but I am not sure. According to our paper today, the story is "both" Jindlas were citizens when he was born or that is how I understood it. The story was not that long, so I am not sure. I know they eventually became citizens.

Not hardly. They only came to the US 6 months before he was born. It takes what, 7 years to become a citizen?
Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Amar and Raj Jindal, who came to the United States as immigrants from Punjab, India, 6 months before he was born.[2]
I have no problem with Jindal running for POTUS, should he get the nomination.

IMO trump and the birther issue were dividing republicans and stearing the independents in obama's direction. it would have been in his best interest, campaign wise, for trump to remain in the running.

Good point, and I won't disagree with you about the independents. But I think Obama's advisers were concerned about the birther issue gaining traction at a time when Obama only had a 41% approval rating. IMO Obama did not want to release the b.c., but I'm glad he did and I'm glad the issue is off the table because I sick of the whole silly thing. I'm also glad Trump has been shut out, because you're definitely right, it would have been in his best interest to have Trump running.

Thanks Kat, I wasn't quite sure when I read the article this morning.
