And really...why shouldn't it? Take a peak at The Crusades in any reference encyclopedia / wikipedia and you will see something like 17 official crusades and multiple "occupations" of Palestine. Like some sort of tennis match...[que the announcer...] "...the Christians volley and the Muslims are back on their heels at the baseline...a cross court shot sends the Christians running and the Muslims attack the net...a Christian lob...a Muslim volley...this is a real dogfight."

We can blame it on oil now but that wasn't the case in the pre-industrial world. Nope. Just religious ideologies, mixed with some nationalistic motivations, colliding. Dogma versus dogma. Lose lose. The fact that this struggle continues is of no real surprise.

Or Christians killing each other in Ireland or Christians killing Jews in Germany, or Christians killing Muslims in the Balkans - all in the 20th.

That has been more of a political struggle than a sectarian one (although the IRA tries their hardest to make it one and certainly uses that rhetoric when it suits them).

So Christianity has never been spread by the sword (or gun), hey?

That's exactly what a few devout Muslims I know said. Except according to them, their version from their holy book, tells it differently.

Yeah. Nothing to worry about all right.

Religion has been a HUGE tool for political "struggles".

Your examples are not accurate. Christians did not kill Jews - nazis did. Did they use Christian rhetoric - yes, when it suited them. But their purposes were purely pagan/political expediency. The Balkans were definitely religious.
