LAS VEGAS - An auto dealer vowed Thursday to fight a city order to take down the 109-foot pole from which he flies an American flag about the size of a competition volleyball court.
The City Council voted Wednesday to order the Towbin Hummer dealership to take down the flag after officials said the pole was too high and neighbors complained the flag flapped too loudly.
"The American flag stays," dealership owner Dan Towbin declared. "I'm not convinced that people are complaining because of noise. This is about vindictiveness and power."

Little by little, until there are no rights left....but sounds like this guy sticking to his guns (nice pun). Wonder whatever happened to The Donald's issue on that? Did he just buy up the whole city/county?
Of course here in Texas, huge flags US and Texas, flying everywhere. But we are a very patriotic state.
It's so nice to know that a city council has enough time on their hands to waste time and taxpayer's money even dealing with this issue! Damn that dealership for being patriotic! .
Maybe he should take down the over-sized flag and put up a "legal size" flag that meets the city council's approval. With that, maybe he should change things up a bit - here's a few suggestions....
A skull and cross bones, an Iraqi flag, a USSR Flag and maybe to be nostalgic a North Vietnamese Flag, a North Korean Flag, a Nazi flag and or course a Japanese battle flag. Maybe an Iranian Flag as well as a Hamaas and PLO flag as well - just want to even things out!
Wow, judging from the responses to this non-news story, I guess the hummer dealership's marketing tactic works.
I'm sure this guy has a volleyball size flag because he's just sooooo patriotic! (that's sarcasm for those of you who might not have caught it).
Give me a break. He's using it to get attention to the dealership while you're driving along. All the other American flags would just blend in with his own if his were forced to be regulation size.
Just because it's an American flag doesn't mean you can violate city ordinances. His use of the flag is nothing more than an advertising gimmick, and should be treated as such.

THANK YOU!! If you'd ever seen this guys "reality show" on A&E (King of Cars) you'd all see this is nothing more then him being sleazy and using the American flag to gain publicity and money. Don't be duped people.
This guy is as patriotic as Chevy, which builds most of its cars in Mexico. I always have a laugh when I see this big old trucks, with a sign in the back saying "This truck was build with tools, not chopsticks". Well....that truck was build in Mexico with tacos, while my Japanese truck was made in a factory in the USA. Do your research people, most american cars are built in Mexico, while most Asian cars are built in the USA, and that includes Toyota, Hyundai and Honda.
As for the big American flag, the dealer's owner should obey the city ordinance and fly a normal size US flag. He is only using our beautiful flag to bring in customers. Talk about an abuse of our most sacred symbol.
