Expand on that if you do not mind. What is your basis to say they should be illegal? Take care.

It is unconstitutional to use a camera, or any other device, to issue citations in Alaska. If lower-48 morons do not care about their constitutionally protected right to confront the witnesses against them, then they deserve what they get.

Well, If you aren't in a hurry, and not trying to RUSH through the light, you won't get a tkt.

Additionally, here in Va Beach, the intersections they placed the cameras at have had a reduction in accidents.

The witness is still the state. The photo is simply a more advanced way of recording a fact. Good for you in Alaska if your state allow people to speed more often without fear of getting cought. Take care.

MD has had the same experience. There were some miserable intersections in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties that would have several red light runner accidents a week. You rarely hear of those intersections now.

As I said before in my city is the same. However, others just think about their rights so much that safety is not a concern. If they respected the speed limit there would be no need to be so concerned about it, take care.

Both the D's and the R's have been profiting off this one for years. Here in Houston, we voted to have them removed. Our mayor did very shortly after the election.

Sounds like you think governments actually install these things for safety reasons

No, it is not. You cannot question a device, therefore you are not allowed to confront your accuser. That violates the 6th Amendment. If you want to toss your constitutionally protected rights into the trash, that is your choice. We cherish our rights in Alaska.
