They need ID to cash welfare checks right? They need one to open a bank account to get direct deposit right? If they still don't have ID, go get one!

I agree once more if people have to pay for id's to vote that is an unconstitutional poll tax.

You have to have ID for just about everything in life. What is stopping these people from getting at least a non-DL from DMV? It is not an unconstitutional poll tax, you either play by the rules or go home.

Senate vote on photo ID bill delayed until Thursday - JSOnline

ALL voters, in every state, SHOULD be required to PROVE who they are and if they are eligible to vote.
Every year something like one in five seniors do not renew their driver's license. Seniors tend to vote Republican. This may backfire at the GOP!

If you have to pay a fee to get an ID and that ID is required to vote its a poll tax, because you have to pay a fee to vote and that is against the 24th amendment. Now if they made IDs free that would not be an issue.

I would suggest you check a particular state's law.

In Texas people over a certain age were given an exmeption.

Oh please, you are not paying to vote. Stop with the over emotional nonsense. If they don't have ID, they can't even register to vote, so in the end they can't vote anyway.

I check articles related to this, in Wisconson if you can display lack of financial means the state will supply the I.D. for free.

This WI voter ID bill will also affect citizens of rural WI who tend to vote republican.

Quote:
The proposed voter ID bill making its way through the state legislature will disenfranchise an untold number of rural citizens without a readily accessible Department of Motor Vehicles service center.
Quote:
As currently written, SB 6 requires a voter to present either a state issued driver license or ID card, or a military ID at the polls in order to vote. The state issued forms of identification are available only at DMV service centers. Currently three Wisconsin counties lack any DMV service center, and many of the rural centers are open only a few days per month.
Voter ID will disenfranchise rural Wisconsin

You can register to vote with a utility bill, W2, birth certificate or tax bill. You don't need to buy an ID to vote at least not in most states.
