Brits have a popular dislike of American because, to the rest of the world, a lot of what America does/represents, etc. is conflated with the British. Much of the world sees the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia and NZ as the 'Anglo-Saxons' (in a cultural, not racial sense).

Since we share a common language and history as well as cooperating very closely in foreign affairs, the Anglosphere naturally shares a reputation and the Brits don't like the idea of hanging off of the U.S.'s effect on that reputation. It creates some animosity for sure.

That said, except for some exceptionally Eurocentric Brits (a minority), they would throw in their lot with the Americans 11 times out of 12.

<edit> in summary, the nature of American-British tension is more along the lines of a familial rivalry than distrust or hatred of the 'outsider' which is the typical source of distrust between nations.

Definently Poland and the Philippines, but I would add Isreal to that least. It is hard to decide: how about New Zealand? As long as we don't put any Latin Ameican countries in there, I can think of more than just 5.

If I had room for a 6th I would probably put The Bahamas, or New Zealand, but I don't really know all that much about the Philippines.
