You want to see sad animals in the zoo, just look at bears and elephants. Never seen a happy one of those, most just pace or stand and stare at walls. very sad.
This won't be a popular opinion, but here mine is: Shut all the zoos down. I despise them. Tigers, bears, elephants, etc, should not be pent up. I do support nature reserves, breeding programs to help endagered species, etc. But to put animals in confined spaces most or all of their lives for display is cruel imo.

Agree!
I'll never forget the gorilla at the zoo in Arizona. They had forced him out, and shut the big concrete door behind him. So he just sat there looking pitfiul. I felt so sorry for him, still think about him, and hope they've improved his environment. I don't go to zoos anymore.
I'm with 11thhour & claudhopper. The last time I went to the zoo, all a Florida Panther did was pace back and forth in its enclosure. After learning the reason why they would do this, it was the last time I went to a zoo. When I was younger I wasn't aware of certain things, now I am more aware of things.
I think zoo animals are well treated and zoos
serve to educate people about animals that
they would never see without zoos.
BTW, I once rode a camel at Audubon Zoo.
He didn't seem to mind.
The camels you posted look like fairly healthy and comfortable, really. But I'm no camel expert.
