I don't think it's so much that the hate "America." They hate most Americans.
They are right wingers, and right wingers throughout history have always idolized a system that glorifies the rich and worships authority figures. Their idealized system requires scapegoats, and stacks the deck against all but the rich. It's also patriarchal by nature, and demonizes women, sometimes directly, sometimes not. It is consistent in its disdain for those who have no power, the old, the ill, the poor and working poor, minorities, and so on.
Right wing leaders (such as Rush Limbaugh), in order to gain the support of relatively uneducated groups, appeal to the basest common denominator, much in the way it was done among Nazis. They use scapegoats to appease the suffering of those who are not doing well, but support right wing leaders.
This is sad, but I remember not too long ago watching a PBS program about the homeless. They interviewed a homeless man who was visibly ill, toothless, and highly uneducated. His comments went something like this: "I don't respect people on welfare. They're deadbeats." I nearly fell off my chair at the degree of self-brainwashing that implied, and the sheer stupidity of the situation vs. the comment.
And yes, I've noticed that right wing leaders are cowards who wouldn't serve a day in their lives if the world depended on it, and yet they're cheerleaders about sending others to fight. In that regard, McCain is truly a remarkable exception. The rest of right wingers cannot be admired, are traitors rather than patriots, and deserve not one iota of respect.
Right-wing authoritarians are people who have a high degree of willingness to submit to authorities they perceive as established and legitimate, who adhere to societal conventions and norms, and who are hostile and punitive in their attitudes towards people who don't adhere to them. They value uniformity and are in favour of using group authority, including coercion, to achieve it.
Useful Idiot *******s aren't necessarily bad people, and in many cases, are exceptionally warm and kind hearted. Many have high IQ's and hold advanced degrees. They can hold files full of factoids in their brains, but lack the capacity to weave them together to find a coherent pattern. Though they fancy themselves as "free thinkers", they are actually the most authority worshipping (politically correct) and servile creatures you will ever meet. When it comes to independent critical thought, they are astonishingly stupid .....and very dangerous! To paraphrase the late great Senator Joseph McCarthy, *******s are "the unwitting hand maidens of the Communists."
It is important to note that many "conservatives" are just as deluded as useful liberal idiots. They spend all of their energy attacking low level *******s, feminists, environmentalists etc, while refusing to confront the real power that pulls their strings. From lofty perches high above the cloud level, the untouchable Globalists laugh as the "right" and the "left" beat each other up.

Liberals might be intensely compassionate toward the weak, but I'd rather be compassionate than mercenary, punitive, in love with authoritarians, anachronistically living back in the 1950s' Joseph McCarthy's "Commie hunting" days, and purposefully ignorant about their own country's history, as right wingers are.
And by the way, FYI - the two biggest "Commie" hunters of the 1950s - Sen. Joseph McCarthy, and FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, both Republicans well-known for their fight against Communists in the U.S., were both closeted gays, well-known in the highly closeted gay community of the 50s.
It pays to be well-versed in history, which right wingers never are, of course.
Also, Libertarians are nothing but Republicans in thongs and smoking pot. For the most part, except for the sexual wildness and the drug-love, everything else they believe is purely Republican ideology.
