The government should not be funding the arts for any reason at all. It really does not matter what the agenda is. Right, left, balanced. It doesn't matter.
Funding the arts is not a legitimate government function.

So with your argument, being concerned for the unemployed, providing people with a service that is free in many industrialized nations and plugging nutrition are "left"?
Yes, I refuse to acknolwedge it because you are referring to what most people see as common sense.
I don't think we should fund PBS or planned parenthood, but we also shouldn't fund oil companies either.
With tax dollars? Absolutely not. PBS I can still see using some tax money there, but they would seriously have to clean house with regard to their programming. I remember watching "3-2-1 Contact" and "Reading Rainbow" when I was a kid.
