USDA officials say the pyramid was tired out, overly complex and tried to communicate too many different nutrition facts at once. The new symbol, unveiled Thursday at the department with first lady Michelle Obama in attendance, is simple and gives diners an idea of what should be on their plates when they sit down at the dinner table.
I guess putting meat with protein and cheese with dairy is just to difficult for people not graduating from Ivy league schools. Everything must be simplified. Sheesh. This was two year’s worth of time and wages spent on this.
Michelle is a beautiful woman. She and the Pres are both very tall and slender, so I think their girls will be blessed with good genes, and if you look at her mom, she's petite and slender. Many of us are not so blessed with those great genes, and do have to fight to stay fit and trim. While I don't think obesity is quite an epidemic, it is a bigger problem than in past generations, so any reinforcement from any sector is appreciated. It's a good cause. Give Michelle some props
