Anyone ever donated money to SarahPAC? Did you do so thinking you were helping her to bank-roll a run for president? If so, you were had.

According to this article in the WaPo, SarahPAC (Sarah Palin Political Action Committee) was deliberately set up in 2009 to be an "unconnected" PAC. That means the usual campaign fund spending restrictions do not apply.

Until Sarah formally declares she's running, she is free to spend the SarahPAC donations on literally ANYTHING SHE WANTS. Designer clothes, mortgages, a new car, McDonald's, airplane tickets, beer, cigarettes, hotel rooms, gas for the Sarah Bus, pizza with the Donald... anything at all.

Gee, maybe that's why she's taking so long to "make the announcement". Until she does, she gets a free ride on the backs of her supporters.

Were you Palinistas aware of this?

I think this is one of the reasons Stephen Colbert is publicizing his efforts to start his own PAC. I don't know what's more absurd: that these vehicles exist or that there are stupid people who donate their money to them.

Her fans won't care what she spends the money on and that is rather sad.

There was talk regarding her misuse of funds when running with McCain; it seems she grew to love it.

I promised myself I'd put Palin on "ignore", unless and until she says she's running (at which point she becomes a threat again, and must be beat!).

But this was just too much. Not too many defenders jumping in to bail her out this time, either. Maybe they're finally catching on?
