Yes, our government can, has, and should once again redistribute wealth.

Why do you care what other people make?

So, tell Obama to quit bailing out his buddies in Corporate America.

My vote is the latter. The brain washing is sustained. Fundie Worship Ayn Rand complete. Divorce men from the meaning of their lives, put them to sleep. They're all too willing to defend their toys at the expense of their children, and at the expense of their very constitution. The conservative brand is in the pawn shop to support their world view, but in fact, it went extinct the day Reagan went in office.

This is very interesting because I believe the official figure is about 47% of all people pay no federal income tax, whatsoever.

That pretty much says it all!!!
Coincidence? I think not.

Bill, we know you're trying to start up a business from your garage but if it makes alot of money we will confiscate all of it and 'spread the wealth'.
Warren, we see you're trying to start up an investment company, but if it makes any money, we the government will confiscate all of it to 'spread the wealth'.
John, we're looking at you starting an oil company, but if it makes any money, we will confiscate all of it to 'spread the wealth'.
Donald, if that real estate business, your TV show, your beauty pageant shows make any money, we will confiscate all of it to 'spread the wealth'.
To all of you that think no one should have a dollar more than you, who do you think creates jobs and employs millions of people? Do you think these people would start a business or be in business knowing any money they made would be confiscated?

Tell you what, tell the Republicans to do the same in regards to TARP and continue to support subsidies to major oil companies that are making record profits and we might get somewhere.

'Oil companies making big profits and getting subsidies'. The latest liberal talking point. If you confiscated all oil company profits and subsidies, it wouldn't be enough to run the government for one day.
Get something new. This one is worn out.

In response to your letter of May 11, 2007, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has reviewed the available data and analyzed the sources and underlying causes of the growth in revenues since 2003. This analysis shows that the overall increase in revenues as a share of gross domestic product (GDP) since 2003 is disproportionately accounted for by increases in corporate income tax revenues.

Sincerely,

Peter R. Orszag

What about a landscaper, babysitter or newspaper delivery person?

Is there a value placed on their labor?

That same philosophy carries throughout the economy.

How does the fact that people INVEST in things that create capital are forced to surrender 15% of their return effect you, or other recipient class people?

Should we just drive through a poor neighborhood and throw money out the window?

With risk comes reward.

Or do you not comprehend?
First off I'm not in the recpient class. I'm been playing taxes for about 20 years with no income tax return. Second I make most of the money independently in the financial markets after working in Corporate America for over 20 years. I've seen what goes on FROM BOTH SIDES ON THE FENCE.

Even guys like Warren Buffet admit it's WRONG for them to make MILLIONS and pay only 15% in capital gains.

It's blantantly wrong for corporate executives to make MILLIONS in stock options, and bonuses to make their company profitable while the people that actually do the work are told "Take your 3% to 5% a year and be damn happy you even have a job".

Ironically I talked to a business associate in South Korea that was actually pissed she ONLY got a 10% RAISE.

There are plenty of people in America that are exploited.

We have the largest gap between the wealthy and the poor in our nations history.

Investors and executives get rich by squeezing the most profit possible. That makes workers just another item on an income statement that needs to be reduced.

Corporations are making record profits and workers are being treat like sh*t. The drive for profits has been totally distorted and is out of balance at the expense of the American worker.

I'm all in favor of capitalism.

What we have right now is F**K YOU capitalism.

The system is out of balance and if it's not fixed it do permanent economic and social damage to this country. There has been no country in the history of the planet that have been able to survive as a global power with massive disparities between the wealthy and other members of society. It's been proven the best way build and maintain a strong stable society is by building and maintaining a strong middle class. EVERYBODY BENEFITS from this. Ironically it's countries like China, India, and Brazil that are doing a better job for the last decade of expanding their middle class than the United States has.

By the way I'm not for increased taxes WITHOUT CUTS IN GOVERNMENT SPENDING.
