Celebrity gossip is a blood sport that adds nothing of value to society.
You have no clue how liberals think or what our collective values are. So I'll tell what one flaming liberal thinks: What Wiener did was dangerous and wrong and that kind of behavior is especially bad in a politician because they could so easily get blackmailed in a worst case scenario. Wiener gambled away his career and reputation for cheap thrills and for lack of impulse control. If that isn’t an addiction, I don’t know what is. He needs help. I'm mad at him. Sad for him and mourning the loss of all he could have done for the Democratic party if he had kept his nose squeaky clean. But he got caught up in destructive behavior, for whatever personal failing. Does that mean he's not redeemable as a human being with something valuable to still add to the world? If he's not redeemable then are any of us when we sin? Wiener needs to step down, take a few years off---maybe work in the media the way Elliot S. is, or as a lobbyist---and then see where he's at with his addictive behavior before deciding if a he has what it takes to try for a comeback in politics. Or find out through therapy if politics is really what he's even wanted for a career these past twenty years---maybe his destructive behavior was telling him otherwise. Only time will tell if he'll spiral downward or upward. In the meantime, it’s a sad statement on our society that so many so-call good people have such a sick need and glee to watch and cheer another human being self-destructing before their eyes. I'm disgusted by all the morally superior types---many right in this thread---who gloat and salivate over of every Wiener picture, sex-text, article, and interview and don't recognize the voyeurism and vicarious titillation exhibited in themselves by doing so.
This reflects the dark side of human nature and both sides do it. We have seen countless references to the sexual indiscretions of Craig, Lee, Vitters, Gingrich, et al, on the Weiner threads, not to mention all the threads that have preceded them. Much scorn has been heaped upon them because liberals like to scornfully point out the Republican Party's stance on "family values". Indeed, even non-politicians (Haggard) have been dragged into the mud fight. (Oddly, though, there has been little, if any, mention of the Catholic priest abuse of young boys in these threads.)
There is enough "gloating and salivating" done on both sides of the political fence to withhold criticism of anyone who has felt a bit of vindication when it is exposed that "your side does it, too".

What makes the Weiner scandal unique is that this is the first time we have seen exhibitionism and pornography (both soft and hard) as part of the picture. (Really, no puns intended.)
When asked to comment about Rep. Wiener's conduct, 0bama said if it were him, he would resign.
So let me get this straight, 0bama just admitted there was no such thing as a shovel ready job, and he blew almost a trillion taxpayer dollars on the stimulus bills, and his stimulus also did not keep unemployment below 8%, and we are still bombing Libya... but he would resign if he twittered a photo of himself in boxer shorts?????
Which acts of misjudgement were worse for the nation? Hmmmm, blowing a few trillion taxpayer dollars on failed, moronic economic policy decisions, or tweeting a photo of your boxers???

Obama's Council of Economic Advisers suggests 225,000 clean energy jobs were either created or preserved through the third quarter of 2010 thanks to more than $80 billion in the economic stimulus package. But those are estimates at best.
White House officials say asking about the connection between the 9.1 percent unemployment rate and the administration's concerted green jobs campaign is the wrong question.
Why should he resign? you Conservatives are more obsessed with the sex acts of politicians than actual policies!
Ummm, dude.... 0bama said he would resign because of "the sex acts of politicians", I'm the one who is saying he should resign over his " actual policies". Or did you not bother to read the OP?
