U2 is playing a long-awaited gig at this year's Glastonbury Music Festival and the crowd will be rather rowdy, but not for the right reasons.
Art Uncut, a UK activist group, will be protesting Bono's decision to move his extremely lucrative music and publishing business away from Ireland which would allow them to avoid taxes on record sales. The move was viewed as a response to a cap on a lucrative tax-break for artists in the Republic of Ireland.
There are lots of European artists living in Florida for the same reasons.
I heard about it on SiriusXM this afternoon. The activist group said that if Bono wants to be concerned about the poor and uncared for, he could pay his taxes in Ireland and help pay for healthcare and education.
Could you see a famous country singer moving to Mexico in order to avoid our taxes, and then complaining about the treatment of people here?
I don't blame him, taxation is theft.I wish more people would act to starve the beast.
On the other hand, if Bono promotes government welfare programs etc., he is a hypocrite extraordinaire.
U2 supports the IRA too. Nothing, they or even one of them do, surprises me. If you can support a terrorist orginization, you can cheat in your taxes too.

I'm glad to see these blokes protesting the hypocritical Bono. when George Bush was in office, Bono was meeting with the dunce in chief to spend OUR tax dollars to provide AIDS funds for Africa. Bono should spend his OWN $$ and stop asking for ours.
The non-profit organization set up by the U2 frontman received almost £9.6million in donations in 2008 but handed out only £118,000 to good causes (1.2 per cent). The figures published by the New York Post also show that £5.1million went towards salaries.
just another hypocrite hanging onto his own money and charity money --while telling everybody else to give.

I thought companies were moving out of the US because of the high taxes, don't tell me this is a tax haven!
