Says who? I was in Canada 2 years ago Toronto to be exact and I didn't find it better. Most people can't afford a car unless they have a driveway to park in, they have parking meters in residential city areas. I thought opposite side of the street parking was bad until I saw that. Parking is very expensive higher than New York City, most people use public transportation or bicycles.
The entire population of Canada is just slightly less than the population of California. The city of Toronto has 1/4 the population of New York City. The population density is no where near what the USA has and I believe that has much to do with it.

Well, they enforce their immigration and citizenship laws, for one thing. I'm not even allowed into Canada because I had a DUI some years ago. But apparently the citizens of our neighboring countries to the south can just move here and be given a "path to citizenship." Because any politician who says otherwise can never win an election. Or some lunatic thing.

Hey fat lou; you need to realize no Canadian with a similar DUI or arrest for any reason in their past is allowed into the U.S.......just those Mexicans that will pick your fruit and clean your pools for cheap and commit crimes while there will be allowed to enter and re-enter un-abated.

I'll be sure to ponder how much better Canada is than the US while I'm sitting on the beach, looking at bikinis...... year round. Oh how it sucks to be a US citizen.

This is an old, old topic, but I want to confirm that Canada isn't "better" than America. Have you been there? Talked to people who work in Canada? If you had, you might have a different perspective.

It's a story of have's and have not's. In Canada, the UK and other countries one will find that they have access to everything at the level of "pretty good".

However if you are a stage 4 cancer patient and the only thing that *might* save you is some new drug going under R&D? You're coming to the States. If you want your children to have the best education possible in K-12 and on to University? You're coming to the States. If you want to develop a new technology and don't want to get reamed with taxes once you're a success, but at the same time want access to quality human capital and a justice system that will protect your patent rights? You're coming to the States.

On the flip side there's not much to save you if you fall through the cracks.
I don't know if "pretty good" is the right expression, I think "mediocre" is probably more accurate.

If Canada is so much better than the U.S.....why 1 nation has 320 million residents plus 20 million illegals and the other only has 35 million.

don't you think if life is so much better up north people would move up there?
