The folks in Long Island pay their taxes. As long as they don't complain let them have big salaries.

you NEED to be making at least 125k..just to qualify for a mortgage for a house in Nassau county Long Island(average STARTER house is 430k)

500k is not too much, especially for a large rich school district(7000 students with a Student / Teacher Ratio: 10.8) like Syosset...he oversees 11 schools

Syosset Central School District is proud that 98% of their high school graduates pursue higher education at colleges and universities. Parents and community members are very active and supportive of all ten schools in the Syosset School District. Starting at elementary level each classroom has its own computers, and each school has a library media center in which entire classes can have access to a computer at the same time. Computer technology is an important instructional tool at all levels of learning. The Syosset Central School District Board of Education encourages the cooperation between parents, faculty and staff, administrators. Students are offered a wide range of co-curricular activities that includes sports, academic exploration, community service, drama, and much more.

By the time it trickles down and each tier pulls out their "raises" there's nothing left for the worker bees at the bottom, namely the teachers.

Heck, there's not even enough for teachers to buy classroom supplies and they spend their own money to do that.

But the admin up on high make sure they get their annual raises.

Nothing new here folks because the same is going on in the corporate world. CEO and other top execs get millions in bonus and raises and by the time that "extra" money trickles down to the worker bees you see either a) a laughable raise or b) "sorry no extra money this year"

Not defending the pay because no question its WAYY too high, however this has more to do with property taxes for those in the school district than anything to do with the budget. It is one of the wealthier districts in the state and as such has a much higher portion of revenues from local property taxes and doesn't receive much state aid.

I see you're from Long Island. Well, as long as you don't mind paying her salary and we all don't end up bailing you out, enjoy!

People need to stop bashing Government workers like they don't do anything.

This person overseas schools where 98% of students go on to college....so whats the issue with paying what shes worth?

Maybe government workers should work for 35k a year and a bus pass.

You don't need $125,000 a year just to buy a home in Nassau, Not to mention the median income is a shade under $100,000 and how exactly is the average starter $430,000 when the median home is slightly less than that. With that being said the district in question (Syosset) has considerably higher incomes and home values than the county as a whole.

$500K is a lot of money, I won't lie, but there are many people making that in other industries as well.
Difference is the word industries. That implies private companies. This super is paid with tax money. However, since this isn't in my area, it isn't my tax money. I'll leave the outrage to the people in her area.
