There are some ultra-Orthodox Hassidic groups (and they are a minority of Jews in general) that are anti-Zionist. The young man in the video didn't belong to one of those official groups. (One can tell by the way he was dressed.)

can he still adopt the stance on a personal level even if he's not a member of any anti-zionist group (officially)? i'm just curious. ..a few years ago there was an anti-israel protest and there were some ultra-orthodox hassidic men dressed in black marching with and chanting with the pro-palestinians. what a bizarre planet we live on huh?

The American didn't happen to be Israeli, did he? Suppose an Iranian man came to the United States and began publicly trashing some aspect of life here. Even better, and more relevant to the video you posted--suppose he began ranting and raving about America as a "colonial occupier" of Puerto Rico or American Samoa. Would you have a problem if the US government had him arrested?

Sometimes, though apparently not in all cases, citizenship does confer certain privileges.

That little pr**k got what he had coming to him. People like him want to keep the Palestinians aroused in order to make life for the Isaraelites as impossible as they can. I really was impressed at the way the police handled him when they were actually probably saving his life and avoiding some kind of young israeli attack on him. Those Israeli kids were doing a very good job of protesting him and those with him but they only have as much temper control as anyone else.

Anyone can adopt any stance or view that they wish. But if one protests against a country's government's legal right to exist (or rather the country's right to exist) inside that country, a person may face legal consequences.

omfg are you comparing him to Jesus??? This kid was an idiot.... I bet his mom and dad paid for his trip to Israel.. Wonder if they knew what he would do...

Bet they were so PROUD.....lmao

Seriously he deserved to be arrested and I imagine if a person visiting my country from a different country and behaved like he did they would be politely arrested too.

He was only trying to stir up trouble.

Imagine an Arab coming to my country and protesting that they stand behind Hamas.... They would not be on the street long...

Yeah it is bizarrar because many of the haridim who protest against the existence of the state of Israel don't haven any problem taking the stipend so they can study instead of work.....

Kinda like biting the hand that feeds you.....

And I suspect that if someone protesting in support of the bombings of the twin towers they would be arrested and folks would probably cheer.

Same difference... Israeli's live with terror every day if this kid is an American he has not..

Israel has been at war since the day of their statehood and the state was voted into being by a majority vote at the UN.

Israel has built a country despite having to fight for everything they have. They are a prosperous country that has been attacked every step of the way.

Palestinians were also offered a part of the land but they turned it down and all the Arab states attacked.

The Palestinians are not peace partners..

The majority of Jews want peace and a 2 state solution but you have to have a peace partner and that peace partner needs to have shown good will...

There needs to be trust between the 2 partners..

I guess someone forgot to tell Israel that Palestinian borders are not shrinking.
