Fiscal conservatism != social conservatism.

If anything the statist liberals should team up with the social conservatives they hate so much. Both sides are authoritarian, they just disagree on what they should force on everyone else.

Might help if you actually listed things that are "rights" if you are going to discuss the issue intelligently.

The unliamate freedom is individaul rights to decide on what they think. Laws that prevent that excercise are only necessasry to prevent violence form it. Political correctness is all anti-freedom of the individual.Our lawws are based on protecting the individual right to not have the state decide while protecting people from harm.

If you liberals would pull your heads out of your behinds for a change, you would see that it is you who support big government with regards to virtually all of the issues your mentioned above. Let's examine the issue logically...

Liberals fight vehemently to preserve taxpayer subsidies to abortion mills. That's the very definition of big government. Conservatives say get the government out of the abortion business.

Thirty-some odd states have had direct ballot initiatives on gay marriage, and in every one of them, gay marriage was rejected by a substantial majority. Yet it is liberals who fight to force gay marriage on the people through big government, whether they ram it through state legislatures or they stack the courts with sympathetic judges. Get the government out of the gay marriage business, let the people vote on it, and whatever the result is, let it be the end of it.

Which side fights to provide prison inmates, even sex offenders with pornography? Get the government out of the pornography business.

Liberals fight for the government to teach kindergartners how to put a condom on a cucumber. Again, BIG GOVERNMENT. Conservatives say get the government out of sex education. It's the parents' business, not the government's.

Atheists? Which side fights to have religious paraphernalia like the crucifix or the Ten Commandments torn down from public buildings? I say get the government out of the decorating business. If someone wants to put up the Ten Commandments or a cross, that's their business, not the government's.

As a "fiscally conservative" Republican, I am wholly indifferent to each of those issues. Live and let live, right?

The only thing that will happen if you eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood (I assume that is the "abortion mill" to which you refer) is that abortions will go on as usual, the only thing that you will curtail are the non-abortion health services that they provide.

Ah sorry, but liberals aren't forcing anyone to marry a person of the same sex. What liberals are doing is protecting the rights of a minority group from the tyranny of the majority, sort of like states that refused to grant African Americans the rights of full citizenship. Left to the voters, we still be separate and exceedingly unequal.

Yeah, like that was the issue and not the headline.

The ACLU vehemently dismissed the lawyers' claims.
"The latest thing they have come up with in response for preliminary injunction was the notion that we are trying to allow pornography into the jail. Absolutely nothing could be further for the truth," ACLU spokesman Will Matthews told the Daily News.

Matthews said the jail's policy was simply too broad. He pointed to a mail room clerk at the jail who told the organization that prisoners were previously banned from receiving a publication with a Venus de Milo sculpture and a copy of the Washington Post because it contained an ad with women in lingerie.

"None of this is to suggest that jails must permit pornography," the injunction states. "Merely that a jail cannot constitutionally ban all publications that sometimes show men and women wearing underwear or dressed for the beach."

Why do liberals keep posting questions based on things that are not true?
