Lame, lame lame excuse. If anything the economies of scale should favour the USA. The USA is rich rich rich in natural and human resourses. Regardless of all the complete BS that you hear, Americans are good hardworking folks for the most part.

The problems in the country are caused by disfunctional, corrupt, inept and often criminal politicians working within a political system that no longer functions in the 21st century. The political institutions of the USA are in desperate need of reform. Not just at the federal level but at all levels of government. If you are a student of American political history one of the first things that you observe and it goes right back to the beginning is the self serving focus of almost the entire political class. As long as they can rape, pillage and rob the country, they will. That is a given.

Since it's these same political -hores who would have to be the ones to reform the systems of governance, don't hold your breath waiting for any positive changes.
