This was a policy which was directed from the top levels in spite of pleas from front line enforcement not to do this.
This seems like to have a LOT of parallels to Iran-Contra, but I'll probably get a lot of posts arguing against that. Iran Contra: sell arms in hopes to get some deal. ATF debacle: sell arms in hopes to get some drug bust. This includes the president denying he was involved.
Litmus paper test time: What if a Republican president did this instead of Obama?

Well when the topic first came up, all the conservatives on the thread were arguing that it was either some grand conspiracy or the ATF just not enforcing the law, for me it had all the hallmarks of a extensive investigation, and said so.
Iran-Contra? Oh Puleeeeeeze! The intent here is the same as in any large RICO/criminal conspiracy investigation, you let the crime go on as long as it takes to gather enough evidence up the food chain. It is the same tool used in mob investigations, large scale drug trafficking etc where agents allow illegal activities take place until sufficient evidence is obtained. In this case he ATF failed and failed miserably to contain where the illicit goods were sent. How that has anything to do with Iran-Contra is beyond comprehension.

The ATF ignored gun laws. Why would liberals want gun laws ignored? As a liberal I want gun regulation strictly enforced.
It's the gun nuts that would agree with ATF not enforcing gun regulation.
No, the liberals don't care because they would rather see the rights of the law abiding gun owners taken away then acknolwedge that BATFE under Obama and Holder is blatantly breaking laws and has gone rogue. Liberals want a police state run by liberal elitist where the basic right of self-defense has been removed just as it has in Britain.

Proof of libs not caring? I have seen this story everwhere especially " liberal media ". Everyone is outraged over this not just conservatives.
If you're going to blame "the media"... you should do a quick search to see if perhaps the media did its job, but you just weren't watching at the time.

Actually the only MSM "liberal" newschannel was CBS as it was they who originally broke the story. Hard pressed to find it discusses on MSNBC, CNBC ABC, NBC.
Pretty difficult to see that outrage from the far left poster's on CD.
Why didn't you choose to attack the OP?
