Contrary to your belief, religion can be taught in a historical perspective, not as an indoctrination. Just because you can't decipher between the two doesn't mean that other's can't.
Yes, it can. It can be taught from an anthropological perspective, as in "here are the course of events and evolutionary occurrences that caused humans to create religion to make sense of their surroundings."
However, you also have to contend with the fact that humans wised up in the 1800-1900s, and found better alternatives to explain their natural world. So sure, you can teach religion, but not as practical fact. You teach it as mythos, and explain why human beings created it.
but dont they already teach evolution in public schools? Whats the point with the thread?
I have wondered about this whole thing for some time. I finished elementary school in the late 40s and all I ever heard about this subject was evolution and creationism wasn't being taught when I started teaching in the late 50s so why are these lefties so afraid of creationism?
I can't accept creationism although I am a Christian. I could handle it if it weren't for the too short time followed in it. However, I can't see how these lefties think that Darwin had it 100% right when it is nothing but a theory and not a solidly proven one, at that. I think they are just afraid that Christianity may push them aside.

Yes creationism can be taught along with the "historical perspectives" of all other religions in a history class. However, it should never be taught as a theory because creationism does not meet the qualifications of a theory.

Because Christian propaganda groups are trying to pass laws to get "ID" taught in schools. Do you not read newspapers or something?

Evolution is about as sound a theory as trust and lift for airplanes. You're insane.

How is it any less of a "theory" than evolution?
