Washington's most powerful business lobby panned the Obama administration's decision to tap the nation's strategic oil reserve Thursday, calling the move "ill-advised."
"Our reserve is intended to address true emergencies, not politically inconvenient high prices," Karen Harbert, CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Energy Institute, said in a statement.

Politically inconvenient? And these are people who need tax cuts?
"Most of the impact on price is related to the removal of some of the risk premium of about $15 related to unrest in North Africa and the Middle East, Westmore said."

Are you of the opinion that a one-time infusion into the market is enough to have a lasting effect on oil/gas prices? I certainly hope not. So why else would he do so if it didn't help him politically?
The bottom line is that this President used the release as a way to show American's that he's "proactive" and "cares" about the effect of high energy costs on their personal budgets.
A political move indeed. I don't see how you or anyone else could view it any differently.

Not only is the effect temporary, but there is likely to be a rebound effect as OPEC cuts production. We are likely to see higher prices by the end of the summer than they were before tapping into the reserves.

?? This is what I don't get about the far right. They b**ch up a storm that Obama isn't doing anything to reduce the gas prices, then he does all he can, and they continue to whine and complain even more
Gas prices are controlled by OPEC, the president and government have next to no control over it, you know, those less government! free markets! cries from the right,..
Obama did all he has to power to do to reduce prices, and big oil shut off their spigots in counter to keep the prices sky high.
If anything Obama can wipe his hands clean of any attacks on him about gas prices. Big oil has far more control than even the federal government itself, and these are the people the republicans bow down to.

..
not only bow down to, but willingly lick their feet while they're at it.
Why would anybody be surprised, that providing a little short term relief to Americans who are hurting, would irritate the Chamber?
And why would any regular American (i.e., not rich) care at all about what irritates the big lobbyist Chamber of Commerce? If the Chamber is against something that President Obama does, chances are I'm for it ... since I'm not rich.

Prices at the pump have yet to drop here. They will likely continue to climb as a result of the decreased production in response to Obama's ill-reasoned politically motivated actions.
Where was the relief?
