James Richard Verone spent his whole life playing by the rules and staying out of trouble. Having worked as a delivery man for Coca Cola for 17 years, Verone was known as a hard worker and honest man. Yet when he was laid off from Coca Cola three years ago, Verone was desperate to find work. He eventually found employment as a convenience clerk, yet he began to notice a protrusion in his chest.
Quote:
He filed for disability, but he was denied any sort of coverage by the federal government. So earlier this month, Verone drove to a local RBC Bank and told the teller he was robbing them for a dollar. He said he wanted to rob the bank in order to go to jail and get medical coverage:

Verone didn’t want to scare anyone. He executed the robbery the most passive way he knew how. He handed the teller a note demanding one dollar, and medical attention. “I didn’t have any fears,” said Verone. “I told the teller that I would sit over here and wait for police.” [...]

Why are the actions of one man a shame on the country? A person can self-insure, an employer is not a requirement. Apparently the man must have had some assets or he should have qualified for his state's Medicaid program.

Instead he chose to place his illness(s) on the backs of the taxpayers by committing an illegal act. This country is not to be shamed for his choices.

Next time could you find any more biased website?

Wondering where this story is leading us?

So whos fault is it this man had to rob a bank to get HC?

I thought Obamacare was going to make sure every man, woman and child was able to get low priced HC?

Well your team effectively gutted "Obamacare" before passing it, and there's also this long wait before most of it even takes effect.

This truly disgusts me. Not this man's actions... I truly commend him for pointing out the hypocrisies in our system.

We will give somebody who steals one dollar free medical coverage, but destitute, law-abiding citizens get nothing.

We need socialized medicine yesterday.

Haha, its utterly amazing the conclusion that some people come to.. This man robbed a bank, (yes, even though its only $1), and will spend what could be a year or more in jail because he's stupid, and your conclusion that we all need free medical treatment..

Hey, why dont you do what he did..

Even better, if we post stories about someone stealing a porsche, will we all agree that we should just pass them out for free?

This is quite the dilemma: spend money prosecuting and incarcerating this man or spend money for his medical insurance.

[oh, well...]
