I live in CA and I voted NOOOOO. There is way too much graft and govt corruption (millions to billons of dollars given to government contractors and workers who literally embezzled the money). There way too much welfare corruption here that needs to be addressed.
There is also a large segment of people who are financially stable who are immune from all this. That would be me. So I don't care.
Thanks you said it as it really is. Hate to say it does not impact my life so no for me also, we are very financially stable. Everyone in power in this State needs to just go, and never return. I have said it for years, morons running this State, and you have idiots voting the same clowns back into office, This State deserves what it get's.
you get what you vote for. the rest of us have to bail you out????...horse crap.....bail yourself out, and leave that crappy state if you live there and don't like it.
It's all on nation, and there are no real boundaries when it comes to national solvency.
not true, my friend.
the U.S. government can print its way out of anything, and deal with the consequences of a devalued currency. The states cannot.

So it's rather childish to be playing these "Texas vs. California" or "my state against your state" games. We're in the same boat, people, and it would be in our best interest for all states to do better rather than wish failure to one portion of the country.
also not true. it is not in my best interests to bail out California and its crooked public unions. Let them raise state taxes to pay for their spending.
Back in 2008, the feds loaned this state 7 million dollars in a bailout. I have no clue if, or even that money was ever paid back.
I live in California and I can understand everyone's sentiment about this state. I personally, and have been very vocal about it, cannot stand this state (for people who think this is heaven on earth, you obviously haven't spent any real time here). It is a "liberal hell" as I put it and, having been born here, cannot stand where it has gone. When I retire in a little over 3 years, I am leaving it.
California is the EPITIOME of the liberal mentality, of wanting a "strong social safety net." Its here. Look at all the free entitlement programs for anyone and everyone. California is one of the few states, which requires NO residency for welfare. Walk across the border (any border, that includes Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon) apply, and you got it. You have the most liberal government and cities in the world here, ala San Francisco, where just about anything goes.
Having said that, before you let California sink into the Pacific Ocean (which I have called for on occasion), you have to stop and think what and how it would effect the rest of country? Sure, there are some who it won't effect. More power too you. However, California DOES have the 7th largest economy in the world. If you think California going under, won't harm people in other states (including the federal government), you are fooling yourself.
Just stop and think for moment, what would happen to all of the federal social programs, if the most populace and richest state in the union, quit paying federal taxes? Do you really believe your social security check would stay the same? Your medicare?
California to the US, is like Greece is to the EU. The red headed step child...
I look at i this way, if any goverment fails at its fiscal policy, then it should fail. they got into their mess, let them get out of it, without any help from anyone outside of their state.
same goes for the feds.
if they do not like the mess they are in, start cutting programs.
I live in CA and said "no" as well. i'd say i'm pretty liberal but, I think it's time for lawmakers to take responsibility and what not, (if they do) lol.
California shouldn't get a bailout for it's financial foul ups and neither should my soon to be former state of Illinois, who just gave us the wonderful(NOT) gift of raising income taxes 75 percent and corporate taxes 50 percent. I mean after all we gotta keep paying for those bloated public employee pensions. God forbid if they did something radical like New Jersey did and make public employees actually have to pay for some of their benefit costs like those in the private sector have to.
Nope. I am a staunch liberal, a socialist even, so the government can never spend enough to satisfy me. But the federal government CANNOT bailout a state. It is completely unfair, because why didn't the other 49 get a bailout?
I think in some ways California DOES get screwed by the federal govt but it is mostly their own making. They need to ditch the Proposition process because it leads to a lot of the deficit that the legislature can't touch.
