Status? LOL. Just a car - doesn't equal status.

I had a range rover for 8 years and sold it to get the landrover more space in the back to pack things.

Maintenance has always been pretty easy.

Truck - A person that does not use a truck for business purposes is trying to say...that she is a redneck and proud of it. Message received.

Luxury Foreign CAr , BMW 7 series etc. - They want everyone to know that they have money, whether they actually have money or not.

Prius - the main statement is I am not a Redneck. They could also be saying I am environmentally conscious. They are not saying that I am practical, because despite the savings in gas you still have to pay more for the car than you save in gas.

Subaru Outback - You are saying I am liberal, but I like to get out there are have fun, whether you actually do or not.

Honda Accord - You are saying, that I don't care about status. I am more practical.

Suburban or Mega SUV - You are telling me people that you are an idiot. It does not matter if it will fit in a parking space and only gets 8 miles to the gallon. Usually driven by women who have Penis envy.

Mustang - Corvette - Modern day muscle car - What you are trying to tell people is that you are manly or a bad ass woman. What people actually receive is that you are probably compensating for having a small wanker or the fact that you are 5'2.

Thoughts.

First off, I think you are aptly named.... hotair....little value....

second, on the truck thing, I REALLY miss my truck. I own a home and just this very weekend I looked at my ford explorer and really wished I still had my truck.

had to do with needing to move some stuff that I cant without that truck bed....

mostly my cars say thus "this person needs to go from one place to another and needs room to haul his kids and all the accoutrements thusly associated"

Does "I paid cash" for my car even make financial sense? Most credit unions have car loans as low as 1.99%. Paying cash makes no sense with rates that low. You'd be better off hedging against the interest in the market.

are you kidding? Why would anyone be so dumb as to pay a credit union interest - no matter how little - if they can pay cash?

Was my post not clear enough for you? If you make 4% to 12% by investing (significantly more in recent years), why wouldn't you be willing to pay 2% in interest? When I bought one of my cars, I could have paid cash, but I put it into a mutual fund that is up 70% since (market run-up).

Some people don't understand the concept of "free money".

It appears that you are absolutely right. I can't believe so many are so poorly educated. Then again, their stupidity puts more money in our pockets. Thanks stayinformed40!
