Absolutely not. What you're witnessing is the first victories in the battle against multiculturalism and the delusional postmodernist mindset that begot it.
What Geert Wilders has proven is that reason and persistence will eventually hammer away at groupthink. And I'm certain that it time the embedded Muslim populace will come to know what Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian Hindu, Sikh, Korean and Filipino migrants have already figured out: it's not necessary that you adopt the bad habits of the host culture to integrate, but it is absolutely mandatory that you leave behind the bad habits of your own culture.
Russia ? It's a multicultural country since many centuries...
Mainly because, unlike the Netherlands and other tiny countries, Russia is an artificial country so to speak. There is no alternative to being multicultural as for instance the Asians in the East of Russia had been there way before there was any Russia. Russia still is a kind of colonial empire. There is no reason whatsoever for other ethnic groups in Russia to adapt to the Moscow kind of Russia.

We agree completely again after your first post in this thread. Keep talking and see how many can understand you.

Even so, Russians of all ethnicities are mainly Russian culturally (languages, habits, food). It's not like recent muslim immigrants in Europe for example.
Russia has immigrants, but they're mostly white and slavics, so they fit well.
First, the most accepted version of multiculturalism has various cultures existing in a single nation. This version of multiculturalism is a tough row to hoe.
Let's say you are an Asian dentist in the United States and into some form of Asian culture. You go to a big, suburban dental clinic in hopes of employment. A white dentist who is a member of the larger, mainstream culture also goes to the clinic in hopes of a job. Both hopeful dentists have similar resumes in dentistry. Who is more likely to get hired and why? Well, the white dentist is more likely to get hired. He is more likely to get hired because he will be able to indentify more readily and more easily with greater number of potential customers. He is one of them. When compared to the Asian dentist, the white dentist is more likely to attract and hold customers. Simply put, he is the better fit. There are some people who might call this racism, or discrimination, but it is a simple reality of human nature. And if that weren't enough, the Asian dentist may not understand the dynamics of it all and become resentful of the larger culture.
The scenario is a microcasm of the problems created by mullticulturalism. The answer is either cultural assimilation, or a widespread education of the pros and cons of multiculturalism. Especially the cons.

Although Russia is the official language, there are 24 co-official languages in the various republics and provinces, and for a reason. Russia is a bit like Spain, where you also have strong regional identities.
Indeed, people who migrate to Russia tend to have a Slavic or similar background, unlike the Netherlands Russia is not overly appealing to most people around the world. May also have to do with the language and the climate.
Misleading thread title. The Netherlands is not abandoning all multiculturalism, just some aspects that weren't working so well, e.g. creating a parallel society for Muslim immigrants.
Amusing article...I wonder why the Dutch and many other Europeans didn't think about preserving the culture of the lands they invaded and claimed as their own. They seem to conveniently forget that.
Neuling, the problem is in the fact that if you are against multiculturalism and are for integration, then the left-wing starts accusing you of being a bigoted, racist xenophobe. That's not fair is it?
Just riding the coattails of this post, but equally as erroneous are the actual racists who will inevitably view this as some sort of vindication for their hypothesis that immigration is categorically a failure.
