Hate to tell ya this, but it ain't only wal-mart these days.
Even some of the most well known furniture factories, that get outrageous prices, will not say any names, their furniture comes from China, with this fancy name, but high price tag, for furnishings made in China. Found this out when we remodeled and added on to our home. Took such a while to find things i needed made in America, and a lot of all night searches. There are more furniture companies these days from other Countries, rather then those furniture companies made in America, which are far and few between. Do not mind paying extra for the things i need made in America.
Target, Macy's K-mart, Sears, J.C. Penny's all have merchandise from China, furniture in all these stores and accent pieces are from China, and other Countries, even items on Overstock, have so many items from China, gosh what do people have against making the things we need in our own Country!
Americans reduced to buying "Made in China" crap while the average Chinese shopper spends $5700.00 per shopping spree while in London.
You've obviously never been to China if you think the average Chinese shopper is going on shopping sprees at Harrod's in London... There's a growing elite population in China, but it's not as if that's the everyday reality for most Chinese...

Everyday reality for Chinese middle class is buying a new vehicle.
Remember this:
Gm China | GM's China sales top U.S. total, a first for the automaker - Los Angeles Times
GM sold more cars and trucks in China than it did in the U.S. last year, marking the first time that a foreign market has outpaced the automaker's domestic sales in its 102-year history.
..
Vehicle sales in China rose nearly 29% last year to 2.4 million, GM said Monday."

Where did you get that $5700 figure?
And your outrage doesn't ring true. Not all Americans shop at Wal-Mart, those of us who do don't consider that we are "reduced" to shop at Wal-Mart when we are there to pick up milk and toilet paper. The average Chinese shopper at Harrods, by the way, would not be remotely close to the average Chinese citizen.

Everyday reality? Are you nuts? They sold 2.4 million cars. What's that Chinese population again? Closing in on 1.5 billion? Everyday reality for the average Chinese citizen?? Unfortunately, the math doesn't agree with your assertion.
I shop at Walmart..why not? they sell the same crap that every other retailer does..only cheaper.
Around here (Calgary) I find I get better customer service at Walmart then do from the so called "Canadian Retailers"
I think this "I hate walmart" stance is past it's due date.
