If he received Medicaid for treating patients, then I'm sure he's particularly against Medicaid because they pay much less for services and require double the paperwork and headache. I'm quite sure he would prefer that these people had private insurance.

If he wanted to help a patient with no money, he had a choice between not getting paid, taking Medicaid, or turning them away.

Again, which should he have done?

Yes they are - you're shrieking that charities should be taking care of patients instead of Medicare. Who works at charities? Volunteers.

I thought we we not suppose to veer off topic and talk about all the free volunteer clinics he works, where there is no overhead to pay and everything is donated.

I'm not shrieking. I'm repeating what you guys have said many times over in discussions about Meidcaid.

Anyway, what Marcus Bachmann does at volunteer clinics has nothing to do with what he does in his office.

That's right, we're not. M. Bachmann should take charity cases in his office, not make "charity" cases go to a special clinic.

Is that right? Wow, I must have missed the part about you buying his business, giving YOU the right to dictate what he should or shouldn't to. Oh yeah, that's right - you're a liberal.

What percentage of the patients in the pediatrician office you work in are charity cases? Are you currently allowing unisured patients to come to your house for a nursing evaluation?

Perhaps he sees the charity cases outside of his office for legal reasons, for example the risk involved in someone slipping and falling and subsequently suing him. If anyone good enough to volunteer his/her services, why would you bad mouth them?

I perform pro bono medical services, but I go to the patient's home (I work in home care). I don't trust that my homeowner's insurance would cover a patient falling as it would then be considered a business (even via charity care).
